10 of 10 - The Greys - Successful Myth
Most of the myths and monsters we’ve talked about this month have been either at the very start of their lives, or already widely acknowledged as pure fantasy. But the last critter on our tour is exactly the opposite; not only have Greys been around for more than thirty years, but most people — whether they believe in aliens or not — do not think of them as being mythological figures. And yet the Greys are used by some people to explain the unusual — in particular, alien abductions are often used to explain vivid dreams derived from sleep paralysis — and by others to represent a fear of the unknown.
However, perhaps the most interesting aspect of the Greys is their unexpected association with Fairy mythology. The two creatures share a wide variety of similarities, including an association with kidnapping and an underlying theme of inhumanity. Heck, both Fairies and Greys are used to represent a fear of outsiders and invaders! And yet the only Fairies we see these days are the frou-frou winged ones, because aliens, and the idea of alien abductions and reproductive experimentation, has completely supplanted the terrifying aspects of Fairy mythology.
At any rate, I’d like to see Greys spearhead a return of demonic allies with conversation abilities in the SMT series. Or at the very least, a special skill that lets them stare at the enemy to cause Paralysis and random status effects. Or maybe a skill that gets more powerful the more of them you have in a team? It’s worth thinking about, anyway. ^^
Alien 1: Did the humans get our message?
Alien 2: Yes, but they named it Dubstep and they dance to it.

Me Time, aka The Long Run
This was my first attempt at a long run in 2.5 months. I had forgot how different the long run feels.
The pre-run rituals — carbs, shoes, gear.
The feeling of starting out slow and waiting to settle into the run.
Finding the rhythm of your feet when your mind is finally free to just wander.
I set out to do anything more than 3, probably about an hour, but with no set parameters.
I feel refreshed.
